What is a war room prayer strategy?

As we walk through our lives on Earth, each of us is daily on a spiritual battlefield. The bible says in Ephesians 6:12:

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

We are constantly fighting against the principalities of darkness against our families, our purpose, and our lives. The war room is where strategy happens. Militarily speaking, a war room is the space where plans are made, strategies are created, and the war is won in the mind.

You may have seen the movie War Room, staring Priscilla Shirer. It is a movie that highlights the importance that prayer has on every aspect of our lives, and how the spiritual battles are won when we get on our knees! War room prayer is just that. It is the power prayer that we pray daily using the weapons that we have been given (the word of god) to combat the spiritual warfare and the battles we face daily.

One thing to note, war room prayer strategy has little to do with your surroundings. While it is nice to have a dedicated place in your home where you can focus intentionally on getting in the presence of God and  developing your prayer strategy, this is not required. In fact, you don’t need your own prayer closet to become a powerful prayer warrior. War room prayers can be prayed in your car on the way to work. They can be prayed in the classroom before children come in for the day. They can be prayed outside, or on the street, or anywhere where you need intentional prayer filled with the Rhema word of God to fight the battles you face.

War room prayer scriptures

Prayer is one of the most powerful weapon we have against the forces of evil. Prayer is our access point to the creator of the Universe through Jesus Christ. Throughout the bible we read of the powerful prayers of the righteous, but what does the bible say about how we should pray today and what is the importance of a war room strategy?

Jesus’ example of prayer

In the days of his flesh, Jesus offered up prayers and supplications, with loud cries and tears, to him who was able to save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverence. Hebrews 5:7

Jesus’ time on earth was spent experiencing life to show us how to experience life. One thing he was consistent in was his prayer life! He often found time to purposefully and intentionally get away from the crowds to pray to God. This war room verse reminds us that his prayers were heard because of this.

We get peace through prayer

Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let you requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:5-7

This world is exhausting. From racial tensions, and political strife to sickness and disease. There are so many things that can easily lead us to be anxious, but God is faithful. When we present our requests and our cares to God, he gives us peace to continue on.

We do not need to worry so much about what we pray, only that we pray

Likewise the spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. Romans 8:26

One of the often-cited reasons for why people don’t pray in public or in general is that they feel like they do not know what to say or how to say it. This bible verse about prayer speaks directly to this issue. When we do not know what to pray, we have been given a helper who can intercede on our behalf and translate our deep needs to the Father.

Our needs are met in the prayer war room

Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” Mark 11:24

When we pray we are accessing the power of heaven and coming before our heavenly dad as his children. is our way to request the things we need and believe that our good father will supply based on his all knowing power.

War room prayer examples

Praying the word of God back to him is one of the prayer strategies mentioned above and is a powerful way to improve your prayer life and help you pray more effective prayers. It usually involves finding the Rhema verses for the particular prayer need you want to pray about and then writing the verses out as prayer. This can be done on your phone or in a prayer journal! Then once you have written out the prayer filled with the powerful word of God placing those prayers in visible locations.

Praying war room verses this way allows you to pray both the need and the answer/promise that God has already given us consistently. Here are a few steps for effectively praying scriptures and creating a prayer strategy:

Find a great bible concordance or simply use Google to search for bible verses related to the needs on your prayer list. A concordance is a book that lists all the keywords in the bible. Having a bible app such as the Blue Letter bible is also helpful because it lets you translate the scripture into its root Hebrew or Greek words.

Next you will want to write down the list of scriptures that speak directly to your need and study them in context and outside of context. God’s word is living so a particular revelation you have about a verse of scripture may be different or not as impactful for the time in life I am currently walking through.

After you have a list of scriptures you will want to do is to write the war room verses out in prayer form, relating to your needs. Here are a few war room prayer examples to show you the power of prayer:
