Because this world is broken all of us may suffer from sickness either in the mind, body, or soul from time to time. It seems to be an inevitable part of our human existence. When we see those we love suffering malady it can make us feel so helpless. But we can have hope.

We believe in, trust, and serve a living God. We worship a savior who overcame the world and every part of its brokenness. We have access to the Holy Spirit, our helper. And through the trinity of our God, we can ask for and receive healing.

This post was written as an encouragement to those who are suffering sickness and disease in the mind, body, and soul. It is a collection of prayers for healing and health to guide us to the throne of grace and place our petitions to the lord in prayer.

I often share with you on this blog that I believe the most powerful way to pray to God is to pray through his scriptures. I have found that this not only encourages me, but also helps me to make sure that the prayers I am praying aligns with the Word of God and His will.

When I pray through the scriptures I will often reword the scripture or state it in a way such as “Lord, Your word says, and then repeat the scripture. I will then follow that with thanks, praise, or a statement of belief for the truth in his word. Praying scriptures for healing can not only affect your physical circumstances, but also draw your heart closer to God as you seek his will and petition his hand.

He said, “If you listen carefully to the Lord your God and do what is right in his eyes, if you pay attention to his commands and keep all his decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the Lord, who heals you.” Exodus 15:26

3 John 1:2

1 Chronicles 4:10

This healing blessing is also one that can be prayed preemptively. In this prayer of Jabez, God is being beseeched for blessing and favor.

“Oh, do not let her be like one dead, whose flesh is half eaten away when he comes from his mother’s womb!” Moses cried out to the Lord, saying, “O God, heal her, I pray!” But the Lord said to Moses, “If her father had but spit in her face, would she not bear her shame for seven days? Let her be shut up for seven days outside the camp, and afterward she may be received again.” So Miriam was shut up outside the camp for seven days, and the people did not move on until Miriam was received again.

Numbers 12:12-15

This prayer for healing was said after Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses in the wilderness. In this prayer, Moses prays for Miriam who has been stricken with leprosy, God hears from him and answers his prayer and after a time she is healed. I add this one as a reminder that healing comes in many forms and miracles can take time or be realized immediately.
