  1. Visit Your Friends Often

There’s an old saying that you shouldn’t let the grass grow high between your friend’s house and yours. This could not be truer. Friends are a treasure. A long-term friendship is especially unique because they’ve seen you at your best and your worse and guess what – you still remain great friends!

Cultivate your friendships. Be the person that always helps if your friend needs to move. Tell and retell stories about good times that you’ve shared. The world can seem huge at times. Make sure to give your friendships the attention and care that they deserve. You will get it back in return.

Once you can learn this and appreciate it, then you’re well on your way to a blissful, fulfilling life. Life was meant to be shared with others.

  1. Calm the Anxious Monkey Mind

Anxiety is something that can take hold of your life, cost you sleep, and even chase off your friends if you are not careful. You have better uses for your mental and emotional energy! It’s only normal to be worried about things in life. We all face different forms of fears and negative emotions. Plus, calming anxiety down can be extremely challenging. How do we calm down our anxious monkey mind?

Talk to your friends, and to others in your life, when you need to. If you are feeling anxious about something, vocalize it to others. You will be surprised how many people can not only empathize, but also relate to your exact situation.

We are all here for each other in life. Don’t be afraid to open yourself up to others when you are in need. All of your emotions are valid.

  1. Focus on the Little Things

Don’t forget about the little things in life. They can bring more joy than some people expect. This is because those little things are really everything when you think about it. It can be something as simple as making pancakes every Saturday with your family or getting in the habit of going on a walk in the park.

Think of when you were a child, and everything was amazing. Camping out in the backyard, for instance, could be an absolute treat. Seeing a pretty bird could be a highlight of your day that you might even think about all week.

It’s the little things that really do matter – once you realize this, your emotional well-being will skyrocket, making a blissful life a piece of cake.

  1. Limit Your News Intake

It’s good to be informed, but it’s also a good idea not to overdose on the news. As Don Henley told us, the news loves to ‘air our dirty laundry’. Too much of it can really burn out your day, especially now having smart phones in our pockets and purses. If you want to watch TV, try to balance it with something light, like a sitcom or a show about the lives of animals.

While the news is important, too often it only shows the bad side of everything. This results in good ratings for the news stations but can create general disappointment in the world for us. Keep your viewing to a minimum or try simply switching to reading the news only 2 or 3 times a week.

You will be able to stay current without having the weight of the world on your shoulders. That is a blissful thing indeed!

  1. Express Your Creativity

An important key to happiness is letting out our creativity every once in a while. It doesn’t have to be anything dramatic, either. Not everyone is an artist or musician, but we all have things that we enjoy and like to express ourselves while doing.

Find your creative niche and cultivate it like you would a ‘happiness garden’. Perhaps you enjoy the sport of fishing? You can express your creativity through the craft of making new and interesting lures. Maybe sewing if your thing? Experiment with sewing different items to see what you enjoy creating the most, and then give them out as gifts. Letting your creativity out is one of the most fulfilling things that you can do. It’s distinctly you, after all. When you find outlets for your creativity, you are being the most ‘you’ that you can be.

Follow your passions. Whether it be history research that excites you or designing aquariums, express all that you can about what brings joy to your life. By creatively expressing yourself, you are adding your own, personal signature to the annals of life. It will make you feel immensely and immeasurably good if you can learn to let yourself enjoy it.

  1. Express Gratitude for Things in Your Life

It’s almost comical the way that we forget all the good things that happen in a day. A little extra bacon fat, for instance, or a candy bar that you didn’t know was still in your pocket. The thing is, if you ignore these little blessings and focus on only the negative things, like traffic or a rude coworker, it can completely destroy your day.

Slow the world down and take inventory of things that you are grateful for. Everyone has a little something in life that they enjoy. It doesn’t even have to be complicated. Maybe breakfast turned out delicious. If you are struggling to think of things in your present day, you can express gratitude for the past. Was there a mentor or family member that helped you get through a tough time years ago? Express that gratitude for them and bliss will enter your life.

Look for things that you are thankful for, and you’ll find them – and you’ll be happier for it. If you only focus on the bad stuff that life throws at you, you might miss those good things, and that would be an absolute shame.

A Blissful Life is All About Perspective

In this article we’ve talked about 6 amazing ways to live a more blissful life. It’s all about how you look at it, but you’ve got to take an active role if you want to be happy. Start enjoying the little things that are hiding in plain sight and avoid too much news – that’s extra weight that you don’t need to carry.

Visit your close friends often. They won’t be around forever, and no one knows you as well as they do. Keep worry away, as much as you can, and find a creative outlet for yourself. Finally, take inventory of things that you are grateful for. They shouldn’t be overlooked and when you can open your eyes to them it can make an enormous difference.
