This life we live can be tough. There are moments when we are on the heights of the mountaintops, but there are also days when we feel the weight of the valley experiences. In those moments we feel low, God has given us a gift of connection and prayer. In prayer we have one of the most powerful weapons against the plans of the enemy at our disposal. In prayer we can connect and reach out to the creator of the universe!
The beauty in prayer is we can not only pray to God for ourselves, but we can also pray to encourage others. In moments of dispair and depression in our friends and family, when we feel most helpless we can pray prayers for encouragement. In prayer we can lift up others to our father God.
I often write about prayer on this site as I know how important it is to our daily walks, but I am excited to share this post from a fellow Christian blogger, Annie Chikonjiwe whose mission is to encourage Christians in their walk. In this post she shares some powerful spirit filled prayers for encouragement!
How good of a Christian walk will it be if we didn’t live to become a living sacrifice to our father to use us as a reflection to his kingdom, how unbeneficial it can be to his kingdom if we chose to live a life that only glorifies us and never live to serve others as Jesus chose to serve the human race during his days on earth. As people of faith, we must always remember and make known to people that choosing to live in Christ means dying to oneself and living a life that serves others which means that the Christ spirit in us must increase and our fleshly desires must decrease John 3:30.
The kingdom of God comes with beautiful gifts that we can use to be of service to others and one that I will touch on today is the gift of prayer and encouragement to others. Our hope is these 5 prayers for encouragement will help strengthen you and keep you and remind you that someone is standing with you!
Why is praying for others important?
As believers we are given many ways to communicate with our father, but there is something just so unique and intimate about having to speak words that are directly from your heart and letting God know exactly how you feel in the present moment. Even better, when we pray for someone else, it really helps us form a bond with that person as well as let them feel how much we love and care for them which in turn makes them feel encouraged to pursue God which in turn can help encourage their faith in God.
As believers, we are graced with the spirit to intercede for others, which means that our faith alone to believe that God can move someone’s situation from bad to good. It really also helps give God encouragement to come through for the person as we see in the story of Jesus healing a paralyzed man in the book of Luke 5:17-26.
Praying prayers for encouragement for others is also fulfilling the New Testament commandment as James 5:16 NIV encourages us to:
“Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective”
This Christian walk was never to be done alone, this means we must have a personal and intimate relationship with the father but never keeping our relationship with him private among others so that at the end of it, all the glory goes to him and people become encouraged to pursue Him when they see our faith in him.
Praying for others makes them feel loved. There is something about interceding for someone that makes them feel accepted and loved because, it serves as confirmation that they too are important in the kingdom of heaven. The bible in the book of Ecclesiastes 4 vs 9-10 ESV that
“two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift“
This verse reminds us that people get stronger in their Christian faith when they do it with other believers. Fellowship gives less chances for the enemy to attack their lives and if ever one’s faith gets weak at some point, it will be harder for them to stay down because they will have another person to lift them up and encourage them. The spirit of the Lord will serve as guidance as promised in Matthew 18:20 NIV
“ For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them”
Encouraging Scriptures for Others
Perhaps you’re going through life’s challenges cause Lord knows we’ve all been through them at one point and we will all go through them and will continue to because live in an imperfect world and also being that we choose to live for Christ so attacks from the enemy be inevitable as John 10:10 NIV warns:
“The thief comes only to steal kill and destroy, I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full”.
So, it is important when you feel discouraged to stay rooted in scripture and know that it is only but a season that all trials and tribulations happen as they are only there to make us strong in our faith James 1:2-4. To the heart that is feeling discouraged, here are five scriptures to meditate on and encourage your faith.

To the person seeking encouragement that God will move a situation they’ve been hoping and praying for and are losing hope

To the person seeking encouragement because things around you don’t make any sense

As I mentioned before, as believers, we are called by God to be of service and that also includes being of service with our prayers, so here are some prayers for encouragement to encourage your faith, and let you know that you’re not alone, I am with you and I stand with you in prayer.
Prayer for strength and comfort
Dear Lord, I come before you on behalf of your humble servant who feels discouraged and weak because of the circumstances that they are facing currently. I ask that you visit their situation right now and bring them comfort and encouragement to know that you are working all things out for their good, I ask that you fill their hearts with peace and comfort. Help them understand that this is only but a season and better days are yet to come, it is in your son Jesus Christ I pray with thanks giving in my heart, Amen
Prayer for encouragement and hope
Our gracious heavenly father, I approach your throne with an open heart and ask that you will begin to fill your humble servant with hope and patience that you are working things out for their good. I know it not easy to stand firm, believe and have hope that things will turn-around for our good especially when things in the physical realm look hopeless, but let this prayer serve as encouragement and build your servant’s heat to trusting that you will move mountains for them and refill their cups of hope again to trusting your process and plan for their life, in Jesus’s name I pray, Amen
Morning prayer for encouragement
Our loving father, the only source of life and encouragement, we start this day with you believing that you have gone before us and cleared the path. We know that this day will come with trails Lord so we ask that you give us the strength and encourage our faith in you into knowing that you will protect us and guide our every step we do and not go astray from your presences when trouble arises, we also ask that you speak through us and help us be a bright life to someone’s day, it is in the mighty name of Jesus, I ask all this, Amen

Heavenly faith, I humble myself before your throne to speak on behalf of your servant. I ask that you may give them the strength to not grow weary and trust that you are the the God that provides, I ask that you give your child the strength to say no to temptation especially when the ways of the world seem easier when times are tough, give them the strength not to quiet and faithfully run the race as faithfully as they can.
Your word says that the joy of the Lord is my strength and because I believe that to be true, I ask that you release joy in the bone-tired parts of your servant and replace them with strength in knowing that you will come through for them every time the call your name and seek your presence, it is in your son Jesus Christ I pray with thanks giving in my heart. Amen
Prayer for encouragement and healing
Lord, I step in your presence with humility and respect of your throne to ask that you comfort your servant in their time of suffering, Lord encourage their hearts to lean towards you, that you will make a way for there seems to be no way for them to escape the pain they are feeling right now, replace their tears with joy father, encourage their hearts to still lift your name up even when they are going through this healing journey.
I speak breakthrough over their lives in Jesus’s name, that they may begin to feel your spirit in the mist of their trials and tribulations and understand that this process is only but to make them stronger in their faith, it is in your son Jesus Christ I ask all this. Amen
Praying for Encouragement
May this blog post help you seek the face of the Lord even stronger in spite of everything that is surrounding you at this present moment, I know times get difficult and in times like this, the devil tries to put us in isolation and tempts us to believe that God has lifted his hand off our lives, but I’m here to serve as encouragement and let you know that you are not alone. Whenever you feel alone in your faith or discouraged by what you are going through, cause let’s be honest and admit that sometimes we feel that no one will understand what we are dealing with and choose to stay quiet.
Be encouraged to know that whenever you feel that way believe that God will send help for you and they are community of people ready to share your pain and help you get through it by the grace of God.
