Corinthians 13 is a faith based nonprofit organization dedicated to meeting the spiritual needs of the elderly community on the Mississippi Gulf Coast by first providing physical needs. Every aspect of the organization is based on bringing a personal touch and meeting the basic need. Whether it be meals, blankets, or companionship, we strive to see the actualized message of Jesus by living out Matthew 25:35-36:
“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.”
We want to be the hands and feet of Jesus here on earth, and through this organization we will form partnerships with local home care businesses, retirement homes, and nursing homes to create a space to build relationships with people who are otherwise left out and forgotten. It is our hope that through building relationships while providing basic needs we can foster a commitment to the underserved elderly that will promote a sense of belonging and reassert a sense of hope in the future.
Corinthians 13 believes in a whole person approach to truly be the light in this world. Corinthians 13 will setup three distinct ministering programs:
- Full of Faith – community garden, sells herbs at local farmer’s markets with all profits going to; providing healthy meals/groceries for low income elderly.
- Joy in Hope – Elder Care Companionship Ministry, provides visitation, socialization, and denture care for elderly population in low income nursing homes and rehabilitation centers
- Wrapped in Love – Partners with hospice, nursing homes, and retirement communities to provide home-made blankets, scarves and wheelchair throws.
